Q: What is a pack?

A: A pack is your family and community within the wild.  You eat with your pack, hunt with your pack, and exist with your pack.  Your pack comes first, then everything else.  In exchange, your pack cares for you as well, and you both benefit from the situation.

Q: What are the rankings in a pack?

A: The Alphas are the highest ranking wolves, generally being a mated couple who makes the final decisions in just about everything.
The Betas are next, and they act like a sheriff for the pack.  They take most disciplinary actions and decide punishments in place of the alpha.  Depending on the individual pack, their roles may be large or small.  They are also the seconds for the Alphas.  If something happens to the Alphas, the Betas step in to fill the role.
Then there's the Gammas, who are the hunt organizers.  They find new places to hunt and ensure that there's enough food for the pack.
The Deltas are the scouts for the pack.  They determine the edges of the pack's territory, and test the waters between their territory and the next pack's.
The Epsilon are the diplomatic leaders.  They act as ambassadors to other packs when the Alphas are unable to leave to do it themselves.  They are also the ones who make contact with other packs immediately after the Deltas.
The Zetas are the shamans, the healers.  They care for the sick, wounded, and elderly.  They are often unusual wolves, and rarely engage in combat.  Their roles are passed on through teaching and proving one's worth without combat.
The Iota are the teachers.  They take charge of the pups and make sure that they know everything they need to for the future of the pack.  They teach hunting, diplomacy, and basic care.
The regular pack members don't have a title.
The Omega, if there is one, will be the lowest ranking wolf.  They are generally the newest member to the pack.

Q: Do I have to have a pack?

A: No, but a lone wolf is not a safe wolf.  Normally, one is only a loner until they find a pack to accept them.

Q: How do I make a Pack?

A: In order to make a pack, you must have at least five other wolves who are willing to follow you, and there should be at least two mated couples between the six of you.  Finally, the alpha must be an adult.  You must talk amongst yourselves to determine who will be the alpha, etc, then approach the alphas at the Rocks of the Alphas and present your claim to a territory.  Also, you must have a name for your pack, which must consist of a color and a body part on a wolf. Example: Golden Paw Pack.

Q: How do I change rankings within a pack?

A: Most rankings are changed through trial by combat.  For more information, see the fighting rules.  However, there are a few exceptions.
Iota and Zeta are changed only through trial by knowledge.  The former and the newer are both set to solving puzzles or tests before the other.
